The Marathon Man

TV host Markus Philipp came into fame through his daily live show “das Thema” on rheinmaintv, a local TV channel for the Rhein-Main area in Germany, in which he focused on a range of interesting topics from the areas of politics, economy, society, and entertainment. For his show he received the Regiostar, a German award for local TV. A central part of his appeal comes from his polite persistence and ability to facilitate stimulating discussions with his studio guests, among them former German politician and TV personality Michel Friedman and former German Minister of Justice Brigitte Zypries. Since 2009, Markus Philipp has been hosting “Heimspiel”, a sports show, as well as other programs for “Hessischer Rundfunk”, the TV and radio broadcasting organization of the German state of Hesse. As a reporter for the public broadcaster ARD, he can also be found at many major sports events.
